Job Overview
We are seeking a Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer with at least 3 years of experience to join our engineering team in New York. In this full-time, in-office role, you will be responsible for designing and developing plumbing and fire protection systems for a range of projects, including residential, commercial, and institutional facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building codes, experience with system calculations, and proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT software. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer looking to further develop their expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Design plumbing and fire protection systems, including calculations for water, gas, sanitary/sewer, and storm loads.
- Develop detailed project specifications for plumbing and fire protection installations.
- Perform on-site evaluations to assess existing building conditions and ensure proper implementation of designs.
- Attend meetings with clients and project team members to discuss project requirements and progress.
- Develop contract drawings from schematic design through to construction documents.
- Prepare and submit filing drawings to NYC-DEP and utility companies.
- Review submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and manage change orders during the construction phase.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in plumbing and fire protection system design.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Familiarity with NYC, NY State & NFPA International Building Codes, and NYC-DEP requirements.
- Strong skills in AutoCAD, REVIT, and Elite Fire Hydraulic Calculations Software.
- Field experience preferred for on-site evaluations and assessments.
- PE License or LEED Certification is a plus.
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills are required.
