Job Overview

We are looking for a dedicated Sustainability Engineer with a minimum of 3 years’ experience to join our engineering team. This full-time, in-office role involves supporting sustainability initiatives by conducting energy audits, designing HVAC systems, and improving energy efficiency in buildings. You will be working on diverse projects ranging from renewable energy systems to energy modeling, ensuring environmental compliance and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a passion for energy conservation, excellent technical skills, and a detail-oriented approach to tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Site Visits: Travel to job sites to conduct site visits related to energy assessments and retro-commissioning.
• Field Surveys: Perform field surveys and measurements required for preparing MEP design drawings.
• HVAC System Design: Perform load calculations, equipment selection, and system sizing for HVAC system design.
• Energy Calculations: Utilize Microsoft Excel and Trane Trace energy modeling software for energy savings calculations and analysis.
• Utility Analysis: Analyze utility bills to identify energy consumption patterns and opportunities for reduction.
• Cost-Benefit Analysis: Perform feasibility and financial analysis for potential Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs).
• Drawing Preparation: Prepare detailed design drawings using AutoCAD MEP, including equipment schedules, plans, and specs.
• Interdisciplinary Coordination: Coordinate mechanical designs with other trades such as plumbing, electrical, fire protection, structural, and architectural disciplines.
• Energy Audits: Develop energy efficiency reports for ASHRAE Level I, II, and III energy audits, as well as LEED and Energy Code compliance.
• Vendor Coordination: Collaborate with vendors and contractors to obtain pricing for potential ECMs.
• LEED Administration: Assist in managing LEED documentation and certification processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in sustainability or energy systems engineering.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Understanding of renewable energy, HVAC systems, onsite power generation, and building management systems.
• Proficient in REVIT, AutoCAD LT, AutoCAD MEP, eQuest, and Trane Trace.
• Experience with energy modeling techniques and energy savings calculations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and interpret technical procedures. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to stay focused, organized, and meet project deadlines.
• Self-motivated with the ability to complete tasks independently.
