Job Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Electrical Engineer to join our growing Electrical Design team in New York. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and development of systems for various exciting projects, including luxury residential buildings, hotels, retail spaces, museums, and institutional facilities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical engineering, strong leadership abilities, and a passion for delivering high-quality results. This is an in-office, full-time position that offers the opportunity to work on dynamic projects with a supportive and skilled team.
Responsibilities
Design electrical, fire alarm, and low voltage systems (including communication, audio/visual, and security) from initial concepts through to final construction documentation.
Oversee all phases of design, from schematics through construction administration.
Meet with clients to define project requirements and establish the project scope.
Conduct building condition surveys to support the design process and ensure project accuracy.
Prepare detailed reports, drawings, and specifications for electrical, fire alarm, and low voltage systems.
Design new utility services and coordinate efforts with utility companies and service providers for low voltage systems.
Ensure designs comply with local building codes, energy regulations, and NYC filing procedures.
Collaborate with architectural and engineering disciplines to deliver cohesive and efficient solutions.
Manage the review of submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and change orders during the construction phase.
Mentor junior engineers and designers, providing guidance and knowledge transfer.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 15 years’ experience in electrical service, power distribution, fire alarm, and low voltage systems.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Licenses and Certifications: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required; LEED Certification preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong AutoCAD and REVIT skills are essential.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of building and energy codes, as well as NEC and NFPA requirements.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to solve complex challenges under pressure.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English is required.
- Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Vaccination Requirement: Compliance with current vaccination mandates for in-office positions.
